[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] IP for the MAC

mfidelma@bbn.com (Miles Fidelman) (11/18/88)

Folks,

Here is a summary of my query re. IP for the Mac.

1. Apple will be releasing a TCP/IP driver package in January (now in
beta) that should be accessable via system traps.

2. Kinetics is shipping a product called "TCPort" that is a toolkit
for writing TCP and IP applications. It's based on the Umich TCP/IP
code (see below).

3. Umich has developed a set of TCP, IP, and UDP drivers, plus a few
other goodies (e.g. nameserver access). They're available via
anonymous FTP to citi.umich.edu, and live in the directory
citi-macip/release2.0B2. Note: these are huge files (several megs) that
must be decompressed(!) into even huger files using a special program
that also lives in that directory. The README file gives details. You
need MPW to use this stuff.
