Dear TCP/IPers, In the past year, the number of microcomputers on our campus has exploded. We see every type of microcomputer, with the largest number being IBM and Apple. Currently we have a IBM lab (20 50zs), a Apple lab (10 SEs), and anticipate Unix workstations in the near future. Mail and Academics are done on a Vax Cluster, Administration is done on two HP3000s. We now need to look at networking everything, or do we? So far, we have decided to install a Local Talk network, with either Apple Share or Tops for the MACs. Being new to network environments, I have two questions. Functionally, what does a TCP/IP network give us? What experiences have you had working with TCP/IP? I appreciate your input, thank you, James Jankowski Tech. Info. Anl. Union College Schenectady, NY 12308 JANKOWSJ@UNION.BITNET
