---------------------------------------------------------------- PROLOG SYSTEM PROGRAMMER FOR POPLOG Cognitive Studies Programme University of Sussex There will shortly be a post for an experienced Prolog programmer to work on the Prolog subsystem of POPLOG, in close collaboration with John Gibson, the chief Poplog programmer, and Chris Mellish, who designed the current Poplog Prolog system. The existing SERC/Alvey contract supporting the post ends on 31st March 1986, but it is anticipated that a two year contract will be available beyond that date, with salary on range 1A. The post will be based within the Cognitive Studies Programme, which is a thriving interdisciplinary group concerned with teaching and research in AI, Linguistics, Philosophy and Psychology, and POPLOG development. POPLOG is a portable multi-language software development environment with incremental compilers for POP-11, Prolog and Common Lisp. It runs on several computers and operating systems, and is part of the software infrastructure for the UK Science and Engineering Research Council, and the Alvey Programme. Applicants should be familiar with Prolog and, if possible, techniques for implementing Prolog compilers. Some of the work may be concerned with enhancing the Prolog environment, and interfaces to the other languages in Poplog. Anyone wishing to be considered for this post should write as soon as possible, including CV and names of referees, to Prof. A. Sloman, Cognitive Studies Programme, University of Sussex Brighton, BN1 9QN. aarons@svga or aarons@uk.ac.svga or aarons%svga@zuxa UUCP:...mcvax!ukc!cvaxa!aarons ARPA: aarons%svga@ucl-cs JANET aarons@svga or aarons@uk.ac.svga or aarons%svga@zuxa There may be other posts available for work on aspects of Poplog, but details will not be known for another month or two. ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- Aaron Sloman, U of Sussex, Cognitive Studies, Brighton, BN1 9QN, England uucp:...mcvax!ukc!cvaxa!aarons arpa/janet: aarons%svga@uk.ac.ucl.cs OR aarons%svga@ucl-cs
