Our departmental IBM PC network folks are setting up IBM Token Ring systems around campus. They usually have a single server set up per ring to provide both printing and disk service. In some cases, they use another "server" to gateway to an Ethernet for TELNET and FTP. Are products or freeware available to permit either printing or shared network disk space across the gateway (the IP router just mentioned above as the second server)? Can these users be well served in the TCP world? Could they do as well with $200 Ethernet boards as with the more expensive token ring boards??
