[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] slip configuration

brooks@Apple.COM (Kevin Brooks) (01/14/89)

I have an interesting question regaurding slip configuration. If your topology
looks like the picture below should you configure a new network address for the
slip connections or use the same address as exist on the local net?

                 host A host B (128.11.0.1)
		| | | |
local net | | slip conn | | local net
    192.11.0.1	| |---------------------|

What should the ip numbers be for
the slip interfaces on these two hosts?

Should slip connections have there own slip network number assigned?
Can you just assign different host numbers for each, keeping the net
numbers the same? If the network numbers for each of the 2 hosts were
of a different class would they be able to communicate? I guess I could
set this up and just try it but I just know someone out there is a slip
expert and knows the answers.
