[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] SRI on Barrnet?

Gene.Hastings@BOOLE.ECE.CMU.EDU (01/18/89)

Will SRI-NIC have an address that is not on net 10 or net 26?

SRI-NIC's addresses (26.0.0.73 and 10.0.0.51) are not changing.
Strictly speaking, the NIC machine is not owned by SRI, and this will
be emphasized when its official name becomes NIC.DDN.MIL as part of the
overall transition to domain names. (It's already a recognized nickname.)

Of course, someday NIC.DDN.MIL may be moved behind a gateway, but if
this happens we will definitely publicize it well in advance as widely
as possible, so don't worry.
