[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Need some help on info

ddnmgr@ADEL01.ARMY.MIL (02/22/89)

I am interested in getting some information concerning
TCP/IP capability for the IBM when the IBM has MVS for the
operating system. The two products out there that I have looked
into are ACCESS/MVS and IBM's TCP/IP (due to come out in June).
The major difference that I can find between these products is
that ACCESS gives the capability to use Berkeley sockets while
IBM's product gives you the capability to use Wisconsin sockets.

As a non-Unix person, this does not tell me anything. Is this an
important difference?

Any opinions on either of these two products? Our environment
is an Ethernet environment going out to DDN through a gateway. We are
mainly a Dec environment here with Suns, Convex, and a few Apollos.

Thanks for any help!
