I am having some trouble with NCSA Telnet V2.2. I have a HP Vectra ES12 (AT compatible) with a 3COM 3C505B (EtherLink Plus) card and a 3C501 card. The 3C505B is used to talk to a 3 server 386, but I don't have the 3COM software loaded when I use the NCSA package. I had the same problem when the same cards were in a PC/XT. The problem: I can log in to a HP9000/S320 (hpbsla) on our LAN via Telnet once just fine. When I log off and try to log in again, Telnet says "Reading configuration file...", and then "Console messages", Trying to open TCP connection to: hpbsla Local host or gateway not responding Could not open new connection to: hpbsla and then ends up saying "entering server mode". When I press ESC, it exits to DOS normally. The hardware configuration of the Thinlan card is: IO Addr 310 IRQ 7 Shared Memory EC00 (card has bits 19-17,15,14 set, I shifted this value 4 bits to the right to derive the segment address.) I have a serial/parallel card on COM1 and LPT1 (don't know what IRQs). The 3C505B is set for shared memory the same except for bit 17 not set (segment adr CC00), IO addr 300, IRQ 3. ...But it gets worse!!! I removed the 505B to see if there was some kind of interaction. There must be, because now it says "Networked jammed, probable break in wire". Other computers on my LAN are working, and the cable looks like it's connected properly. Any ideas as to what is going on? What other info would be helpful? Is it likely that v2.2c would help? I would prefer to use only the 3C505B card for both systems. (They are both on the same cable.) Is there any way to make the NCSA package work with the 3C505B? Thank you. Gary Campbell Internet: campbell%hpbsla@hplabs.HP.COM UUCP: ....!hplabs!hpbsla!campbell
