[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] tcp-ip 327x controller

rdp@pbseps.UUCP (Richard Perlman) (02/26/89)

I am looking for a 3270 terminal controller that can use a tcp/ip
ethernet as the local (controller to terminal) channel. I wish to
use IBM PCs and perhaps Macs (FastPath is in place) for the "3270"
terminals. Access to the VM host is Bisync.

Since I may not be completely correct on my IBM terminology I'll
restate my need another way. I would like to be able to access our
VM system from a PC or Mac on our local network and look like a 3270.
Tcp/ip on the VM is NOT a possibility (wish it were). A 9.6 bisync
line is the only option I have.

I have seen Tri-Data's Appletalk based controller, NET-1000 I think,
but it requires TOPS' Appletalk drivers for the PC and TOPS does not
(yet) support the WD8003E ethernet board, which we are using.

Responses by E-mail please.
