[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] VMS/SMTP Mailer Information

RAD@VAX02.AMS.COM ("Rich DeJordy, x295") (03/22/89)

We are interested in hearing from VMS sites which are running the
MultiNet version of TCP/IP for VMS. We are running MultiNet TCP/IP
software with Pony Express as the mail delivery system and are using
MM-32 as the mail interface. We have been having some problems with
the mail system. We are working on these problems with the author of
each component. However, in the event that we cannot resolve the
problems we are having, we are considering two alternatives. First,
as we would like to keep using MM-32, we are considering switching
from Pony Express to Software Tools. If there is another mail
delivery system which can deliver to MM-style mail files, that would
be fine as well. If we still cannot resolve the problems, we will be
forced to revert to VAX Mail. Should that be the case, we would need
a good mail system to send and receive Internet mail into VAX Mail
     files.

     So, my questions are:

Is anyone else using the MultiNet/Pony Express/MM-32 combination
for mail at their site? If so, I would like to speak with you.

Is there anyone using MultiNet and MM-32 and not using Pony Express
for the mail delivery system? If so, what is it? How does it
work? Where did you get it?

If we need to abandon MM-32, what is a good, reliable interface
for VAX Mail to SMTP on the Internet.
