[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] filenames and punctuation

The real fact is that they are destination specific and this
is all silly. Besides, I'm quite sure the dreaded ISOOSI tribe
will declare a standard for file names and everyone will be
forced to gratuitously convert the entire universe.

However, I can't help but mention that I've always believed
the the DEC OS people (probably from time immemorial)
have had a contest going to see who could use the greatest
number of different punctuation characters in a filename.
I guess that's because in their heart of hearts
they still think in RAD-50 and that noone would *EVER* want
to use those characters in a name, much less that anyone would
mind typing all those error-prone things. Noooooooooo.
