[net.jobs] International Headhunters. Part 1 of 2.

tlr@umcp-cs.UUCP (Terry L. Ridder) (12/14/85)

There are two "International Headhunter" agencies in the USA,
that I am aware of.

One is based in California, and the other one is based in
Florida.

They charge a fee of the job searcher, roughly $360.00 per
year. They are looking for mainly single people or married
people who do not mind being separated a year at time.
They are interested in people who have been in the military,
just getting out of the military, or former defense contractors.
Most of the jobs are short term, less than a 13 months.

A majority of the jobs are located in the Middle East.
This means that if it is an Arab country the following apply:
	1. The country is dry. (both water and alcohol)
	2. Travel outside of the job location is limited.
	3. If you are a Jew, forget it.
	4. If you are a Christian and devoted to your faith
forget it. (The reason is that to the Arabs we are
	   infidels.)
	5. If married you are going to be separated about
	   a year.

There is a small percentage that are in South America.
This means that the following apply:
	1. Travel outside of the job location is limited.
This is due to safety reasons. The companys do
not want their employees killed by terrorist or
	   rebels.
	2. If married you are going to be separated about
a year maybe a little less.
	3. Suitable housing is almost unheard of. (By suitable
	   what we Americans consider suitable.)
	4. Radio and television are controlled by the State.

There is a small percentage that are located in Cold regions.
By Cold regions, I mean Greenland, Aleutians Islands, and
Antartica. This means the following:
	1-3. See above
	4. There is no radio and television as you know it.
	5. You are in for some long periods of isolation.

I would suggest that instead of using an international
headhunter, that anyone interested in overseas employment,
contact companys directly, and subscribe to an international
job newsletter. I believe that there is a newsletter based in
Virginia, they advertise in the Sunday Washington Post from time
to time. (Maybe someone in the D.C. area can help me out on the
name and address of the place.)

You could add:
        6. If you are a woman forget it. (Arabs still think
we women should be neither seen nor heard. You
would have to stay within the western compound
            for your full work tour.
