Subject: DEC-VAX - ALL-IN-1 - MAILER

TO: TCP-IP@SRI-NIC.ARPA

*************ATTENTION DEC-VAX - ALL-IN-1 - EXPERTS******************

Problem: Presently, I am a user on a DEC-VAX host computer
connected to Milnet, which uses VMS 4.7., and ALL-IN-1, version
2.2 for electronic message processing. This works fine except
for one "small problem" the MAILER function for ALL-IN-1, is not
both "UPPER" and "lower" case sensitive when a user types in an
E-mail address and the ALL-IN-1 converts the address for SMTP.
In the world of DDN and etc, host computers have mailbox user
names that will only be accepted in either "UPPER" or "lower"
case as described in Mil-Std 1781, 4.1.3 Mail Syntax.
Does anyone in this great big world have a solution for the
ALL-IN-1, version 2.2 software, so a user can type a MAILER
address in either "UPPER" or "lower" and the address is converted
for SMTP exactly as typed????

Please send all replies direct to: MCDANIEL@HQAFSC-VAX.AF.MIL

Thanks,

Mr. McDaniel
