As the site administrator for mit-eddie, I would like to respond to some of the messages which have appeared concerning the mdee postings. I do not regularly read net.jobs, and I only read the messages in this group once the matter was brought to my attention by others. First for the facts. mit-eddie has a uucp feed with mdee. We do not feed that site news. It is possible for any site with a uucp feed to submit a news article to an adjacent system. I have been aware of her postings for some time, but when it was brought to my attention that what she had posted was clearly and advertisement, I spoke to her, and tried to explain proper etiquette. She acknowledged that she had received several messages telling her that she should not post messages of that nature, and that the messages that she sends in the future should be more acceptable for posting in net.jobs. I would be hard pressed to distingush her lastest posting from one of the other postings in net.jobs had I not already known of her organization. My personal veiw on all this is that postings should be judged on the basis of their content, and not their poster. Why should a message be any different if it is sent by a headhunter instead of the company itself? If the net feels differntly, so be it. I do not wish to be a censor. I expect that if a clear policy existed for posting to net.jobs, mdee might follow it. The problem is that a clear policy does not exist. ~ Cliff mit-eddie!bcn
