I know that perhaps this isn't the best place to ask, but for lack of a better one: Does anyone know where we here might be able to ftp copies of the X.400 specs (and anything we may need to see that's related)? We're working on setting up campus mail, and I'd like to see just what X.400 IS before I (we) throw the idea out the window, especially since we might have to migrate to it someday. Perhaps another question worth asking: Can one implement X.400 stds on top of what is essentially a TCP/IP environment? Or do we even want to try? This probably sounds like a stupid question Jeffery Bacon Academic Computing Svcs., Michigan Technological University bitnet: bacon@mtus5 uucp: <backbone>!rutgers!umix!anet!bacos

As far as X.400 over TCP/IP goes, there is already an implementation that does in the UK this written by the University College London and University of Nottingham. The code is going to alpha in July. Look for an openly available release by the end of the year. /mtr
