Can anyone provide me with contact information for whatever regional network provides NFSnet/Internet access in the Philadelphia PA area? I tried to query the mail server that was mentioned here, but only got a black hole simulation... -- George Robbins - now working for, uucp: {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!grr but no way officially representing arpa: cbmvax!grr@uunet.uu.net Commodore, Engineering Department fone: 215-431-9255 (only by moonlite)

George, Both JvNCnet and PREPnet can provide you with Internet access in the Pennsylvania area. The JvNCnet requires that your usage of the network be for research purposes only. The NSF Network Service Center (NNSC) can provide you with contacts information, they can be reached at "nnsc@nnsc.nsf.net". The JvNCnet network is installing a backbone node in Philadelphia this coming week. The University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University both will be connected with T-1 lines to that backbone node (they are presently connected to the JvNCnet network with direct T-1 lines to JvNC in Princeton). The backbone node in Philadelphia will be part of a ring of backbone nodes all connected with T-1 lines. This is scheduled to be completed this summer and is moving according to schedule. The backbone nodes are co-located with the phone company point of presence in the cities of Philadelphia/PA, Trenton/NJ, Newark/NJ, NYC/NY, Stamford/CT, Providence/RI, Boston/MASS and at JvNC in Princeton. For more information on the JvNCnet network contact the JvNCnet network coordinator by e-mail at "nisc@nisc.jvnc.net" or by phone at (609) 520-2000. -- Sergio ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | John von Neumann National Supercomputer Center | | Sergio Heker tel: (609) 520-2000 | | Director for Networking fax: (609) 520-1089 | | Internet: "heker@jvnca.csc.org" Bitnet: "heker@jvnc" | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
