The answer is probably somewhere in the clutter in my office or residing under some obtuse name in a indeterminate directory on disk; however, what is the RFC number for the Host Requirements document? If not released and/or not available at SRI-NIC, where can I obtain a copy of the current draft?

Merton, The host requirements RFC still lives in the same place, but it recently underwent mitosis. Use anonymous FTP to host venera.isi.edu and fetch the pathnames: pub/ietf-hosts.rfcL.txt and pub/ietf-hosts.rfcU.txt or pub/ietf-hosts.rfcL.txt.Z and pub/ietf-hosts.rfcU.txt.Z The L files contain the link, IP, and transport layers, while the U files contain the application and support programs. There has long been a plan to make this document available from the NIC as an Internet-draft, but it has not happened yet. Bob Braden

Could someone please forward the Host Requirements or inform me where to obtain access ? Thanks.

The Host Requirements RFC draft document is available for anonymous FTP from host: VENERA.ISI.EDU. There are two parts, with pathnames: pub/ietf-hosts.rfcL.txt pub/ietf-hosts.rfcU.txt For Unix fans, there are also corresponding compressed files: pub/ietf-hosts.rfcL.txt.Z pub/ietf-hosts.rfcU.txt.Z Bob Braden
