[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] libc_resolv.so for Sun-386i

ittai@SHEMESH.GBA.NYU.EDU (Ittai Hershman) (07/27/89)

As many of you know, Sun has been very cooperative in releasing
versions of libc which call bind/named directly, as opposed to via the
yellow pages host lookup mechanism. Unfortunately, this software is
not currently available for the 386i architecture.

With the cooperation of some helpful tech support engineers, a Request
For Enhancement (RFE# 1024808) has been filed, to have a 386i version
compiled and placed on uunet.

Sun is obviously doing a lot of work these days, and your help is
needed to let Sun know how important this is to its customers. If you
have a 386i, and require direct bind/named support, please log a
service call with Sun refering to RFE# 1024808. Also, please drop me
a note (to: ittai@nyu.edu) so that I can track the demand myself...

>From previous dicussions on both TCP-IP and SUN-SPOTS, I know this is
important to others; please speak up (and no flaming please!).
