[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Multiple copies!

LYNCH@A.ISI.EDU (Dan Lynch) (07/31/89)

Hey, Somthing is causing multiple copies of most of the mail to
this list lately. I get the second (usually) copy about 3-4 days
later after it has wandered through Sweden. Can someone figure out
what is broken and stop it?
Thanks,
Dan

Dan, I've sent mail to the NIC and asked them to filter out anything
from sunic.sunet.se. I've got a mail message waiting in the queue for
the postmaster at sunic, but it seems stuck (time-outs). *sigh*

Dan:

You noticed it too? A number of the duplicates that I have seen have a sender
field of ucbarpa.berkeley.edu--or was that ucbarpa.bezerkely.edu? I'll give
them the benefit of the doubt.

I would guess it's some leftovers, delayed somewhere. Mail comming from
vd.volvo.se for a non-existent newsgroup moderator are trapped at
sunic. As the guys at volvo maintaining news are on vacation, the
news flow to volvo has even been stopped until they have fixed the
problems at their site.

This has been reported fixed by Bjorn Eriksen <ber@sunic.sunet.se>
after I complained when I got the first duplicate a week or so ago.

Was some problem with volvo.se getting news and having an old active
file. You will see "vd.volvo.se" in the first Received-line.

I still notice duplicates, however, so I don't know what happened,
maybe just delays here and there.

Cheers,
