I have not noticed any packet drivers for the NE1000 or NE2000 cards available from Novell. There is also a clone I have heard about of the NE1000 that is supposed to be very low priced. Does anyone know of a driver that will work with these? I had heard that the NE1000 was very much like the 3Com 3c501, but I could not get that driver to work. The PD looked like it loaded, but I could not get either NCSA Telnet or the Netware shell to actually put anything out on the wire. Thanks for any help/information you can give me. the NE1000 card from novell is (was? are they still making/selling them?) a NAt Semi evaluation card. nat semi made the cards to show off their DP8390 chip. they then decided to give the designs to anyone who wanted to make the cards (and sell the chips). seems like a good idea. several other comapnies have done basically the same thing: DLink DE-001, Tiara "8-bit" (i dont know their part name/number). there is a company in Isreal that built one into the motherboard of a workstation they built. there are more people jumping on this bandwagon every day. it has nothing to do with the 3c501 from 3com. 3com uses the same chip in the 3c503, but it is in no way compatible with the NS eval board. stev knowles stev@ftp.com ftp software 617-246-0900
