[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Yellow Pages question

gfb@wsc-sun (Gareth Beale) (08/14/89)

I would like to hear of other's experiences using Yellow Pages across
vendor
boundaries. We currently have two Sun servers each supporting a number
of
Sun Workstations. A similar setup is being added with a Vax server and
workstations. We run Yellow Pages on the Suns (unfortunately, for the
moment
one server is at SunOS 3.5 and one is at 4.0), and would like the Vax
workstations to be a part of the YP domain on one of the Suns.

First, does anyone out there have some experience to relate regarding a
similar
environment? Second, is it easier for the Vaxes to talk to YP at SunOS
3.5 or
4.0? I hope the answer is 4.0 or no difference, as we expect to
upgrade the
lagging Sun to 4.0 as soon as we can upgrade the hardware.

Email direct or post to the net if you feel it is of general interest.
