[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Information for Bibliography

roubicek@NNSC.NSF.NET (Karen Roubicek) (09/09/89)

The USER-DOC Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is
seeking information on documents (both online and hardcopy), reference
materials, and training tools addressing general networking information and
"how to use the Internet". Our purpose is to put together a bibliography
targeted to assist end-users and those who provide direct services to
end-users. We solicit your help and would appreciate any suggestions on items
to include.

In addition to text documents, the bibliography will reference media such as
audiotapes, videotapes, and fiche. Suggestions of categories for which
we hope to publish entries include:

	* introductory material on TCP/IP
	* guides for network administrators
	* information about electronic mail
	* services documents (directories)
	* selected RFCs
	* mailing lists
	* pointers to map collections
	* regularly scheduled courses, workshops, and conferences
	* information servers (how-to-use)
	* security
	* newsletters

The appended template outlines some of the information that is necessary for
each entry in the bibliography. While we prefer to receive completed
templates, we will appreciate less detailed contributions that will lead us to
the right sources. (In other words, short is better than nothing!)

A research board will pursue the additional information that is needed for
entries and a review board will verify the accuracy and appropriateness of the
references. A first draft of the bibliography will be published in early
November.

Please send templates or other information to:
