Pending a call-back from either of the 2 local dealers I contacted, I am interested in first-hand reports on use of Annex (or other) terminal concentrators as ethernet-based multiplexors. i.e., a terminal concentrator on either end, with hosts hooked to the ports of one and terminals/printers on the ports of the other. We need the kind of reliability like we would get from running a 25-conductor cable (for 5 terminals) to each site. (It is not a hostile environment). Also, how is a backbone created? Do I just run a thick Ethernet cable from the ground to the roof and put a transceiver on each floor? (our plan is to have the terminal concentrators be th only thing on the ethernet. We will ultimately eliminate the terminal concentrators on the host side when we have a machine that can go on the ethernet.
