I would like to thank all the people who answered my inquiry about X.25 boards for PC/AT machines. I should have added that I need a board that works with MS-DOS (not Unix) with the TCP protocol suite. The following is a summary of the information I received: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -myl- Frontier Technology Milwaukee Wisc. (414) 964-8689. Dr. Prakash president. MS-DOS X.25 board. TCP module with FTP, TELNET, and SMTP. Access to raw X.25 and raw TCP. Board is DDN Certified. TCP is DDN certified. Blacker certified. Did not inquire about Unix. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -myl- Scope Inc. Reston VA. (703) 471-5600 George Semancik MS-DOS DDN certified PC/AT board. Software by FTP Software Inc. Scope has discontinued its DDN certified MicroGateway product line. They are looking to sell it if someone is interested. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: cmills.bbn.com Adax Inc. They run about $300, the software that is distributed with it is not real useful -- that's why I had to write my own. -myl- Novell Network X.25 only. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ken@gatech.edu (Ken Seefried III) Check out The Software Group in Canada. Don't have the address or phone number right here, but they have ads in Unix Review, etc. most months. They have a good product and they are a pleasure to deal with... We've got a driver for an X.25 card from The Software Group in Toronto, Canada. Their stuff works on the U.S., Canada, Japanese, and German public networks. Supposedly this means it should be easy to certify for the DDN. Marv Friedman is their president, Nynex owns the whole damn company. SS mostly does IBM SNA synchronous cards. Lance Norskog -myl- Unix only. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Shawn R. Campbell" <srcampb%anagld.uucp@BBN.COM> You might want to check Communication Machinary Corporation (CMC) out of Santa Barbara, California. They make a variety of TCP/IP boards for VME, Multi, and AT bus platforms. At my prior company, I worked quite extensively with their ENP-30 which is a Multibus, 802.3 and X.25 intelligent network card that included TCP/IP. Their applications had to be ported to a Xenix operating system, but they do provide all TCP protocol suite applications including SMTP with the board. I had a lot of problems with their X.25 software, but I believe it works fine now. -myl- No board level product (MS-DOS or Unix) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: douglas%twg-ap.uucp@BBN.COM Eicon Technology of Montreal, Canada makes X.25 cards for PC's. Wollongong's WIN/TCP for 386 STREAMS Release 3.1 (for 386 AT sysems running UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2) supports their EiconCards. Eicon can be reached at 514-631-2592. From: "Michael A. Shiels" <mailrus!jarvis.csri.toronto.edu!torsqnt!tmsoft!mshiels@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu> The company in Ottawa Canada is Eicon and they have an EXCELLENT implementation of an X.25 card. The API is based upon Netbios which means that your software doesn't have to poll the card for input waiting etc. It will tell you! From: CERF@A.ISI.EDU There is a Canadian outfit called EIKON, Inc. which is based in Ottawa, I think (or perhaps Toronto), which makes such a board. I am sorry I don't have the address/phone - it was about 4-5 years ago that I looked into this. They may be out of business, for all I know today. -myl- Raw X.25 only for MS-DOS.
