[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] RFC Compliant NetBIOS and ULANA

tkostan@TRWIND.IND.TRW.COM (Tyson Kostan) (09/30/89)

In reference to some of the comments reguarding TRW's failure to meet
the ULANA performance specifications:

I can only make comments reguarding the TRW products, but not the EDS
products (even though I have personally tested them both).

I would first like to respond to your comments reguarding performance
requirements. So that those who are listening in may understand what
ther ULANA performance specifications are, let me lay them out:

100 Packets/Sec with 1K Byte packets with 1 TCP connections open
120 Packets/Sec with 1 Byte packets with 1 TCP connections open
70 Packets/Sec with 1K Byte packets with 32 TCP connections open
84 Packets/Sec with 1 Byte packets with 32 TCP connections open

These may not be realistic requirements (Try to force 1 byte or 1K byte
packets) but a baseline had to be set. TRW exceeded all of the requirements
listed above.
