The CAD group at Intel in Santa Clara has openings for qual-
ified software engineers with experience with VLSI design.
It is an opportunity to get involved with the development of
Intel's VLSI design environment - Eden. The ideal candi-
dates would have at least 2 years industrial or research
experience in CAD tool development or chip design experience
with a strong software background. We are looking for
highly motivated and innovative people to work on a chal-
lenging state-of-the-art VLSI design system.
CAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Job Description:
Will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of
an interactive IC mask layout editor that is a part of
Intel's engineering design environment, Eden. Will be
responsible for defining, implementing and maintaining new
features and capabilities of the layout editor. Will also
be heavily involved with CAD tool integration projects that
rely on the layout editor. Will work closely with the Eden
team members, other CAD developers, design engineers and
layout designers. Will provide both user- and developer-
level documentation.
Qualifications:
Should have 1-3 years industrial experience, or equivalent
academic experience, with large interactive applications,
preferably but not exclusively, in CAD. Must have demon-
strated ability to design and implement programs with com-
plex data and control structures. Must have good verbal and
written communication skills. Should have a demonstrated
ability to make tradeoffs in a complex, technical environ-
ment.
Education:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or
related degree required. Programming experience with high
level languages (Pascal, C, Mainsail, etc) is required. A
knowledge of VLSI design (especially layout) and CAD is
highly desirable. Experience with interactive graphics
applications is a plus.

Group is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of
