[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] TN3270 Help Request

deepak@hpindda.HP.COM (Deepak Sabnis) (10/24/89)

Hi Folks,

TN3270 is a software package, which has been available from Berkeley
in the past. This package allows a IBM 3278 emulation on a UNIX machine
connected to the IBM host over Ethernet via a TCP-IP Telnet connection.
The front end to the IBM host is supposed to be a Fibronics box called
K-200 or a IBM 8232 Channel Adapter.

I have also heard that the software package is standard with BSD4.3
release. I have the following questions and will appreciate any help.

1. Is the software package really standard part of Telnet service
   on BSD 4.3?

2. Does it, or will it support color (i.e. support 3179G emulation).

3. Are there any plans to further enhance this, like making it work
   as a X11 client etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
