[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] 4.2BSD and Route Record

ghb@elrond.la.locus.com (George Bray) (11/11/89)

I have heard rumors that sending IP packets with the Route Record
option enabled causes machines based on the 4.2BSD TCP/IP code to
dereference a null pointer. This is rumored to cause some machines to
panic.

Does anyone know if this is true? If I were developing a product and
planning to use Route Record, would I need to be able to disable this
feature to avoid problems with 4.2BSD-based hosts?
