[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Does Data-General under AOS/VS use TCP-IP

dchou@NCoast.ORG (David Chou) (11/26/89)

Data-General under AOS/VS version 7.xx does support a very primitive
version of TCP-IP. We just installed the software and have not tried
all features, but most noticeably absent is the support for any cursor
addressing support for terminals under telnet. Only dumb ttys are
supported and this seems to cause us problems when trying to use most
conventional screen editors. Sales people have told us that screen
support will be available under the VS2 version (new version of AOS/VS)
which we are unlikely going to adopt due to upgrade costs. Although
we do not have any experience yet, we have been warned that the AOS/VS
is rather inefficient and consumes larger cpu resources than usual
terminal activities.
