[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Strange Behaviour

mcc@WLV.IMSD.CONTEL.COM (Merton Campbell Crockett) (12/03/89)

Has anyone noticed any strange behaviour when attempting to mail to nic.ddn.mil?
I am using Berkeley's latest (?) sendmail. I first noticed the problem on
Saturday, 02 DEC 89, when I replied to a mail item received from tcp-ip. I
got the message bounced with a host unknown error. I attempted to resubmit
the mail item by using the following commands:

	m tcp-ip@nic.ddn.mil
~f Retrieve the "bounced" mail item
~e Edit out the old mail header
	. Send the mail item

Received another host unknown error.

Attempted to send another message using the following commands:

	mail -v tcp-ip@nic.ddn.mil

with cc: to sms@lonex.radc.af.mil. Message was first sent to RADC and then
to NIC. After the connection to NIC was closed, the following was displayed
on the terminal

	>/etc/. permission denied

Any thoughts?
