[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Z39.50

sean@dranet.dra.com (11/22/89)

Anyone have the Z39.50 protocol running on top of TCP/IP?

I'm working on this protocol for a few other network protocol stacks, and
and be very interested in how people are going about ensuring interoperability
when running Z39.50 over TCP/IP.

Z39.50 is a NISO standard for Search and Retrieval (OSI application layer)
for (mostly?) the library world.

I've gotten several replies to my query, and a lot of "me too's". I'll
post a summary once I'm able to contact and verify the various places that
were reported to be working on this protocol. I have the names of four
projects, now I'm trying to figure out how to contact them.

Also the Fall 1989 issue of EDUCOM Review has an article on the protocol.

I've replied to all the messages I received. If you sent me something
and didn't get a reply either something munched your message, or muched
my reply (though none "bounced.")

Thanks
