I've added the automatic compressed client recognition to the SunOS-4 SLIP driver distributed with Van Jacobson's beta release. It works fine with uncompressed clients, but I haven't tested it with compressed clients because I'm still hacking compression into KA9Q NET. The changes are fairly straightforward, so I feel pretty confident that I didn't break anything. I'd be happy to e-mail the changes to anyone who'd like them. -- Scott S. Btw, I have modified Clarkson's version of NCSA Telnet to do VJ compression in slip mode, and also added the auto VJ enable to the Sunos streams driver. I'm also messing around with Splay tree data compression of packets, so far I can get about 2700 baud out of a 2400 baud modem.. Not much of an improvement.. But 3270 data streams really get squashed quite a bit.. I also have a Streams PPP driver that I developed, and am using with the PPP version of KA9Q... when I have a chance I'll add PPP to NCSA Telnet. | Brad Clements bkc@omnigate.clarkson.edu bkc@clutx.bitnet | Network Engineer Clarkson University (315)268-2292
