[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Help with networks and slip and routing

brian@apt.UUCP (Brian Litzinger) (01/17/90)

I've gotten slip running on a couple servers, and
have had the slip links connected to PC's running such thing as
ka9q, pcip, and pcnfs.

I would now like to use dialup slip between two servers. However, I'm
not familiar enough with routing and networks to setup this up.

I've read my 386/ix TCP/IP Guide and UNIX Networking by Kochan & Wood,
but I'm still not sure what has to be done.

My two servers running slip are svr1 89.0.1.1 and svr2 89.0.2.1 each
serving a set of workstations at separate sites. My question is
how do I get one server to realize that it must send requests across
the slip line when it wishes to talk with a machine on the other
network.

Any help or pointers to documentation would be appreciated.

Thanks.
