[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] NFS and root

anderson@ncrorl.Orlando.NCR.COM (Anderson) (01/17/90)

I have heard that some implementations of NFS do not allow root on the client
to access file on the server. I know about the root->nobody(uid=-2) translation
that goes on, but what I heard indicated that even this did not work.

Is this correct? Can somebody give me some more information on this, and if
there is a way to work around this limitation?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as I am in the middle on an NFS
implementation myself.

Thanks,
