The NCI is looking for scientists, systems and applications people
(including graphics) for their new supercomputer facility located
in the Division of Cancer Biology and Diagnosis, Mathematical
Biology Laboratory at Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD.
Computation facilities will include:
	1 - Cray supercomputer, and on the front end:
	1 - VAX 785
	1 - VAX 8600
	3 or 4 - APOLLO computers
All in a brand new building.  The VAXs are installed -
Cray to arrive on Feb. 17, 1986.

Laboratory functions are: nucleic acid sequence analysis; RNA
    secondary structure prediction; x-ray crystallography data
    analysis; molecular dynamics calculations; 3-D graphics
    analysis of proteins; digital image processing including;
    fourier analysis of autoradiographs, light micrographs,
    and electron micrographs; database analysis.

In general, they are looking for systems , applications, and
graphics people with a knowledge of many programming
languages and operating systems including C and UNIX.
Positions now being recruited for are:

- ADP Advanced Discipline Scientist: PhD physics or biology;
    experience in computer simulation of macromolecular
    structure and interactions.

- ADP Hardware Specialist: BS comp sci; 4 yrs ADP experience.

- Sr. Scientist: PhD biomedical sci or comp sci; experience
    in DNA fragment synthesis; area of computer technical support.

- Sr. Scientific Application Analyst: BS in physical sciences
    and 6 years experience in applications programming.

- Sr. Systems Manager: BS comp sci; 3 yrs programming experience.

- Systems Software Specialist: BS comp sci; 3-6 yrs progressive
    experience in systems analysis and programming.

These jobs pay in the range equivalent to about GS14 to GS18.

Frederick is a smaller city of about 30,000 in western Maryland about
50 miles from and with a lower cost of living than DC and Baltimore.
