[net.jobs] scientific / system programmer needed

sherouse@godot.UUCP (George W. Sherouse) (02/19/86)

Radiation Oncology anticipates the creation of a new
position for a software engineer (scientific programmer /
system analyst) to participate in the development of
software for the graphical simulation of radiation treatment
of cancer patients. The successful candidate will join an
established collaborative group of medical physicists, phy-
sicians, and computer scientists with the specific aim of
producing clinically useful software tools for design and
implementation of radiation treatments. A four-year degree
in a physical science (physics preferred), computer science,
or mathematics, or equivalent relevant experience is
required. A strong background in scientific and/or system
programming as demonstrated by a minimum of two years
employment in a similar position is considered essential.
Familiarity with the UNIX operating system, the C program-
ming language, system design and integration, database
design, interprocess communication, and interactive graphics
is strongly preferred. Experience in data acquisition, pro-
cess control, CAD, flight simulation, networking, PDP-11
assembler, and/or computer modeling of radiation interaction
with matter will be a valuable asset.

This position is to be grant funded for three years
beginning April 1, 1986. Continued funding beyond that date
will depend on the group's ability to attract additional
grant money. The software engineer will be involved in the
preparation of applications for continued funding.
