[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Minimum required datagram length

thomas@uplog.se (Thomas Tornblom) (02/21/90)

What is the minimum datagram length a router is required to handle without
fragmenting the datagram? I know there is a recommendation of 576 bytes
but how strict is it? I have a media that can't handle more than 512 byte
in one datagram, what is the canonical way to deal with it?

Znks,
Thomas
