[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] CMUT Implementations

schoff@PSI.COM ("Martin Lee Schoffstall") (03/17/90)

Keep it in perspective, when you bring a full grown Bengal Tiger out
on stage it is pretty clear that it is going to knock off a paper tiger.

Now the question is will SNMP knock out CMIP itself in the area of NMS/agent
management within the OSI stack. Despite the denials of Mr. Crocker
who represents both DEC and the ISEG/IETF collegium, thank goodness
we at least have the safety net of meer rationality,
market forces, user demand, and other standards
groups to work within to give us the possability of useful mechanisms
to manage OSI networks in parallel with tcp/ip networks for the 20-30
years.
