Hi folks:
I wanted to let you know that SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review
has added a column on network simulation. Lixia Zhang is our new
simulations editor.
Lixia's announcement of the new column is below. People interested
in submitting simulation papers should contact Lixia.

Announcing the Network Simulation Column
Because it is not always feasible, or even possible, to
conduct experiments or performance evaluation in real net-
works, the role of simulation is becoming more and more
important in network protocol design, analysis, and perfor-
mance evaluation. In recent years substantial simulation
efforts have been conducted. However, little of the results
has been published. In most cases the results were only
shared among a few colleagues, occasionally propagated by
mouth or email to a few other interested parties. We have
increasingly felt the need for a place to provide a timely
exchange of the results among experimenters, analysts, and
network practitioners.
Thanks to the Computer Communication Review editor,
Craig Partridge, for providing the precious space in CCR to
meet this need, a special column on Network Simulation is
now opened on CCR and publications will start from the next
issue of CCR, July 1990.
The purpose of this column is to provide a timely dis-
semination of simulation experimental results and to provide
a forum for comment and debate among the network research
community. The publications are expected to be informal
exchanges about current efforts, therefore we emphasize
timeliness over formality.
The column encourages submissions on topics ranging
from studies of existing networks and protocols to perfor-
mance evaluation of proposed new protocols, congestion con-
trol and routing algorithms. The emphasis will be primarily
on those reporting practical experience gained from simula-
tion experiments and work-in-progress. Submissions of a
more mathematical or theoretical nature that may contribute
to better understanding of the simulation results are also
welcome. Discussions on simulation methodology, however,
will not be our primary concern.
Submissions may range in length from a short note
(perhaps half a page) to no more than 5 pages. Manuscripts
should be sent to me at XEROX PARC, 3333 Coyote Hill Road,
Palo Alto, CA 94304. Authors may also submit documents
electronically to lixia@parc.xerox.com, following the same
requirements as specified in the CCR ``Information for
Authors.''
I am looking forward to serving you as the editor for
this new Network Simulation Column. The success of the
column will depend on your contributions.
