Could someone please provide a brief rundown on what happens if two processes are communicating via TCP/IP and one of them dies (crashes, terminates abnormally, etc.) From what I've read, when a socket is closed, TCP/IP sends a zero-length message to the partner to indicate the event. Is this true, and does it happen if one of the processes terminates abnormally? Any and all info appreciated. Mark Alsip alsip@leadsv.pyramid.UUCP or something like that
