How does one disable IP forwarding? I have a complex network
where a lot of hosts are sending UDP packets which other hosts
(non-gateways) relay to their default gateways.
Does anyone know where I can good write-up on routed?

This depends on the gateway machine software. For Berkeley UNIX, 4.3 at least, there's a kernel variable called ipforwarding which can be set to 0 to disable forwarding. To change it, use adb: % adb -w -k /vmunix /dev/mem _ipforwarding/W 0 <- in running system _ipforwarding?W 0 <- in kernel file $q Changes made to the running system take effect immediately but go away at next reboot; changes made to the kernel file are permanent but don't take effect until next reboot. (Well, permanent until you rebuild an new kernel and install it. To fix it *really* permanently, change the initialization in netinet/ip_input.c (or you may be able to use a config file line options "IPFORWARDING=0" ).) der Mouse uucp: mouse@mcgill-vision.uucp arpa: mouse@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu

Re: 3com PCS/TCP-NS and TN3270
Sorry for the multiple posting.
We are begining to use PCS/TCP, a package designed for a 3Com network, and
wanting to use TN3270. Line mode on an IBM VM/CMS system is fun, but...
Has anyone *actually* combined any of the various TN3270 packages and
this telnet? Perhaps more properly stated, has someone used a TN3270
and the driver and etc. from this package.
It does not have a TN3270 of it's own.
If so, I'd like to know and if wanted I'll post any results.

Does anyone out there know of a Name Server that will run on SCO XENIX/UNIX
or a SUN SPARC Workstation running SUNOS? We are implementing a Class B
Ethernet connecting SUN Workstations to a Silicon Graphics Supermini Computer
and to an IBM Token Ring through a Wollongong Gateway.
Please reply directly to me (MTSJLM@GSUVM1.BITNET).
