[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] TCP/IP for MVS

PETTY@MITVMA.MIT.EDU (Edward Kodinsky) (06/28/88)

Recently James VanBokkelen from FTP Software Inc. stated that the Spartacus
KNET/MVS product had its ancestry from the UCLA MVS code. This is not the
case. The Spartacus MVS productline is a substantially modified version
of Spartacus' KNET/VM product. Spartacus has not used any of the UCLA
MVS code.

My company is looking to provide tcp/ip connectivity to an IBM/MVS system. We
have looked at the IBM solution and are not completely satisfied with it (
ie. cost/performance ). Because of this we have begun to look for alternative
vendors that provide this tcp/ip interface. We would greatly appreciate any
information the networld could provide for this interface regarding vendors,
quality, performance, and pricing.

Please respond to me directly and I will happily forward a summary of the
responses to anyone who's interested.

Thanks in advance.
