Hi, In WIN/TCP for VMS 5.1, TALK does not handle userids with numeric characters in them correctly. For example, TALK turns the userid AC02 into acPR and the userid OB23 into obRV. The bad part of this problem is that TALK will not let this userid connect to others via TALK..... :( If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know. I have sent in a modification request. I have 1500 userids of which 1200 or so have numbers in them.... ================================================================================ Billy Barron Bitnet : BILLY@UNTVAX VAX system manager THENET : NTVAX::BILLY University of North Texas Internet : billy@vaxb.acs.unt.edu SPAN : UTSPAN::UTADNX::NTVAX::BILLY ================================================================================ PS The ANONYMOUS account on TWG.COM gives a "User Authorization Failure" message now.

Install MultiNet. Its versions of TALK (as well as SMTP, FINGER, nameservice, R services, etcetera) all work as per the RFCs. > Billy Barron Bitnet : BILLY@UNTVAX > University of North Texas Internet : billy@vaxb.acs.unt.edu > > PS The ANONYMOUS account on TWG.COM gives a "User Authorization Failure" > message now. PS The ANONYMOUS account on TGV.COM (the developers of Multinet) is full of useful information. :-) Ehud -- | Ehud Gavron, Systems analyst | sunquest!gavron@cs.arizona.edu (uucp) | | Sunquest Information Systems | sunquest!gavron@uunet.uu.net (alternate) | | 930 N.
