Hi... SNMP folks, Since I don't have any experiences on Network Management, I might be asking pretty dumb questions. But I am curious, so please help me to understand. 1. How much did they define standard mechanisms for the archival, retrieval and remote retrieval of management data so far ?? 2. How much has been done for monitoring and management across administrative boundaries ?? 3. How can a proxy daemon be used to shield the agents from redundant network management request and respond using cached info ?? How can SNMP proxy be used to shield network elements from elaborate access control polices ?? 4. Since I am working at the Database company, I always have the question in my mind. We have a powerful distributed database product on the network. But, there is NO WAY to monitor each node's database activities from the remote site.
