[net.jobs] job wanted

yip@sri-unix (09/10/82)

A very close relative of mine has just completed
her Master's in Medical Information Science from
the University of California at San Francisco.

She holds a Bachelor's in Computer Science from
the University of California at Berkeley, and has
a year of work experience as a software engineer
doing development work in system software before
she went back to school for her Master's.

She is now looking for a job in the San Francisco
Bay area. Her research project for the Master's was
a time-oriented query language for a time-oriented
data base under UNIX.

Her career object is to do software development work
in a state-of-the-art software development environment.

If you have a job opening or know someone who has such
openings, please call Terrie at (415)-490-4062 between
7-11pm, or send mail to me (..ucbvax!lbl-unix!megatest!yip).

Thank You.

Mike Yip

I have a friend, an American citizen, who is currently working for DEC in
Europe (based in Rome or Milan) doing field applications programming work.
Previous to that she worked for a bank doing bank type things on a IBM
machine in (what else) COBOL. She has a degree in Sociology (ugh!) and
almost another in Mathematics. Anyway, she is wanting to find a job back
in the good old USA. She would prefer to work in the Aerospace or
Communications field, and location-wise seems to prefer the Southern
California area (another ugh from a snobby Oregonian). If any of you
out in netland would be interested in hearing from her, drop me a note at

decvax!teklabs!tekmdp!tomm or ucbvax!chico!teklabs!tekmdp!tomm

and I will send it off to her.

                                   Thanx,

                                   Tom Milligan

Are you a company doing software development in a UNIX* enviroment?
Do you sometimes feel like your source code is out of control? Do you
have an `SCCS' tree that looks like a gnarled oak, that breaks, but never
bends, when you put demands on it? Do you have source that `makes' only
after a lot of "tweeking" and hand-waving, and end up with non-
reproducible binaries? Do you feel like you need some clear-cut
procedures, but don't know where to start? Are your developers spending
time writing in-house tools specific for their current needs, instead of
being able to draw on a common pool of general-purpose tools? Do you
find yourself with minimally tested software because you lack a thorough
and integrated test suite? Well, my friends, what you need is a top
quality integrationist -- someone who can take an overall view of your
needs, who can develop procedures to fill those needs; a person who can
see how all the pieces fit together and get them to do that with
consistency and a minimum of effort; a person who can keep an eye out
    for general applicability and develop tools for those applications;
someone who can see the forest *and* the trees. Coincidentally, I just
happen to know such a person. You guessed it -- it's me.
If your company currently has an opening for such a position, or if
you feel you'd like to talk to me about creating one, please respond via
electronic mail through the following path:
		ihnp4!ima!ism780!geoff
and you replies will be forwarded to me. Or you can call me (collect) at
		(213) 394-7564
Oh yes, I suppose I should mention that I have a thorough working
knowledge (by way of industry experience in a production environment) of
UNIX*, the Shell (Bourne and C-shell), SCCS, make, the C compiler,
integration and testing procedures, and documentation development. I
also program in "C", 8086 assembler, some FORTRAN (but I'm not a
mathematician nor a FORTRAN expert), and (ahem) Basic (hey, we all had
    to start somewhere, right?)
A complete resume and references are available on request. Thank
you for your time and consideration.
