Thankyou everyone who responded to my question about the problem I had reaching ucrmath. The problem seems to be with the way ucrmath responds to the connection request. Since my site doesn't exist on any name servers anywhere, ucrmath hangs while waiting for a name resolution. I fixed the problem by having the system administrator at ucr put a dummy name into their hosts file for our site. I also could have registered our site with a name server somewhere.
