[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Spare some advice for an old ex-lepper

bourkej@ul.ie (John Bourke) (07/30/90)

Hi,

We are trying to come to grips with the TCP/IP protocols before people
come screaming to us looking for services and advice. At the moment we
have CMU on the Vax and PC's running 3COM TCP/IP. We have no UNIX hosts,
no subnets, no gateways, no connection to the internet; no nothing.

Can anyone offer some words of wisdom from their expereinces, or, if you were
to start from scratch, what would you do different ?

I'd have gone into poetics and put all my money into federal express
at $4.
