Hi, I'm interested in hearing about people's experiences with SNMP based network managers. Specifically, any horror stories about incorrect implementations or things that did not work like they should, areas that weren't implemented at all, etc. I would also like to hear about the good things that people did. I don't necessarily need to know vendor names, I'm just trying to gather info about SNMP managers in general. please e-mail me directly and I'll summarize for the net. thanks, Frank J. Given that some articles are appearing about it, this week, I don't think I am giving away any secrets to mention that the group which is sponsoring an SNMP demo for the Interop conference held a "hot staging" at NSL's OpenLab facility, two weeks ago, and held another staging on the East coast, last week. About 30 vendors and about 45 SNMP implementations were tested at OpenLab. (There is an enormous interoperability matrix that grew on one of the whiteboards over the course of the week.) It would be foolish to assert that all implementations worked perfectly, but it certainly is clear that the protocol is real, solid, etc.
