Yes, this is a stupid question! I though that RFC's were available from sri-nic.arpa (nic.ddn.mil). I FTP'd there but can't figure out how to manipulate my way through the directory structure... Can someone e-mail me the correct procedure for retrieving RFC's? Thanks! Robin Goldstone, Systems Software Specialist California State University, Chico Computing Services robin@csuchico.edu

From the "main" directory (the one you end up in at FTP startup) I think you merely cd RFC: <---note that the colon is *mandatory* The RFC's will be under that directory as text (RFCXXXX.TXT) files. -- - John Logajan @ Network Systems; 7600 Boone Ave; Brooklyn Park, MN 55428 - logajan@ns.network.com, 612-424-4888, Fax 612-424-2853

The last few times I have ftp-ed to NIC.DDN.MIL, cd has returned an error message "xcd command unknown" or something of that sort. Despite this, I have been in the requested directory. So, if you get this error message, check around before getting frustrated.
