[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] TCP/IP over X.25 : a Network Interface

hnadra@ncs.dnd.ca (Hicham N Adra) (09/05/90)

Our organization, the Ottawa branch of the CGI Group, is interested in
information about implementations of RFC 877 (A Standard for the
Transmission of IP Datagrams Over Public Data Networks, DDN NIC).

We are attempting to (re-) establish our connection to DREnet (Defence
Research Establishment Network), "a communications network that has been
developed to support the Research and Development activities of the
Department of National Defence". DREnet sites are connected to Datapac
and use TCP/IP over CCITT X.25.

Also of interest is the availability of the source code release of Purdue
University's X.25 Network Interface (XNI).

NOTE:
The host under consideration is a Unisys 6000/30 system with System
V Release 2.20 Version 8.02. We also have other systems including a
VAX 750 with VMS 5.3-1. Both are also part of a LAN.
The current objective is to establish CGI's access to DRENET through the
*Unisys system*, however. (How can this best be achieved?)
END OF NOTE.

Your insights about, and experience with, both general approaches and specific
solutions are appreciated.

          Thank you.
